What you see – A tiny pet pug settles down at your feet and makes you feel at home at the cubbyhole Marshall’s Pet Zone, near Pages in Vizag. Located at the basement level, Marshall’s Pet Zone is a comfort zone for dogs and pups and their owners. This pet dog store has everything from pet articles that are stacked neatly along walled shelves to grooming services and more.
What you get – Exposed to dog training at an early age (courtesy a father who served in the police force in Vizag) and developing a flair for it, the young Basha decided to turn his ‘hobby’ into a professional set-up, which eventually led to the creation of Marshall’s Pet Zone in 2000. Basha started first with the kennel service and then set up the pet dog shop in January 2007. Today, Marshall’s Pet Zone has grown from a fledgling pet dog shop into a full-fledged service for pet dogs, and has gained the reputation of being a one-of-a-kind exclusive pet dog agency in Vizag. The store is a great find for dog treasures and goodies. It has pups to 
sell (breeds like Labradors, German Shepherds, Golden Retriever, Bull Mastiff, etc.), branded dog food, pet accessories and a visiting pet consultant too. The kennel, on the outskirts of the city (charges are Rs. 150 for smaller dogs and Rs. 200 for bigger breeds, per day), has training facilities. Marshall’s Pet Zone also offers a dog security service along with a handler for Rs. 5,000 onwards (one month). This service is provided to guard homes (while the owners are out on long vacations), malls, housing colonies, companies and industrial areas. The charge varies depending on the location and the cover area under security.
The pet articles at Marshall’s Pet Zone are phenomenal, and we can’t stop smiling as we see a customer gleefully rummaging through the lot. There are soft toys and dog accessories like caps, metal-sequined collars and leashes, stud earrings, polka-dotted ties, shampoos and shoes. Top shelves carry quilt-layered, compact beddings and dog ‘tent’ kennels. 
Dog food products from Pedigree and Royal Canin, chews, dog biscuits in various flavors (non-vegetarian and vegetarian) and food bowls (both in stainless steel and in food-grade plastic) are available. Basha, gentle by nature, doles out suggestions and advice to the eager customer. Just like his pet dog shop, he too turns out to an all-rounder. He trains dogs and grooms them with services like bathing, ear cleaning, nail cutting, brushing and coat-hair cuts. He is proud of the fact that his own pet dog (a handsome Labrador named Bond) has won a ‘Best Obedient Dog’ title at a recent dog show competition held in Vizag. Basha’s friendly wife Mini and younger brother Madina assist him at the shop.
Our verdict – Marshall’s Pet Zone in Vizag offers solutions to city folks who are turning towards acquiring pedigree pet dogs to not just guard their homes but to also provide companionship. The grooming and kennel services are comforting add-ons. Basha’s inputs, assistance and the willingness to get you the preferred breed, if any, are useful. Parking space is available, but limited to maybe four cars just outside the shop.
