Hair care, facials and pedicures for men? That’s right, the men folk need it as much as the women do. You may well ask why. Ajay Jasaiwal,
owner of the happening men’s salon Effects in Vizag, has the answers. MetroMela caught up with the super-cool expert (he’s been in the hair and skin care business for the last fifteen years and carries his experience with rare-to-see humility) and got these useful suggestions. So here’s an exclusive - for men only, and no offense please!
Shape of the head for hair styling
The shape (either oval, heart, diamond or square) of the head plays a vital role in hair styling. For instance, those with an oval shaped-face should go for a square-cut hairstyle – one that is longish in length on the sides and high in the center.
No wishy-washy hair wash!
Use a good product for hair wash, and while you may claim to ‘wash’ (call that wet) your hair everyday, ensure that you shampoo your hair at least thrice a week.
Oil massage myth
An oil massage is not going to prevent hair loss - it is meant for blood circulation only. So restrict oil usage, and use a good conditioner instead.
Facial skin care
While women ensure that they pamper their face, you couldn’t care less and tend to take your faces for granted – you end up using soap and that’s where you tend to go wrong. Since your work may take you outdoors often, there’s more reason for you to ensure a thorough cleansing. The simplest thing would be to diligently use a face wash, every night, before bedtime. It does actually ‘clean’ the skin. Since we are talking ‘face’ care, a facial is also strongly recommended – while it is a ‘rejuvenator’ for facial skin, it also works as a stress-buster!
Touchy toes
The other area that is often neglected is - the toes. For those who are constantly indoors, in shoes and socks, please follow a regular clean-up routine. There’s no harm at all in indulging in a pedicure to keep fungal infection (more prone to here due to Vizag’s humid weather) at bay. Also, this may rankle, but change your socks frequently.
The golden rule of regular water intake
You’ve heard it before and you’ll probably hear it again, but we’d still like to mention it -drink at least three liters of water everyday – it is the best natural cleanser of wastes and toxins from the body and helps maintain proper muscle tone.
Sun block
For those who shy away from sun tan lotions (calling it too girlish), it would do good to remember that sun block not just keeps away the tan but also harmful sunrays. So go ahead and invest in a good sun tan one – and use it!
We hope Ajay’s tips encourage the men to get started on a new skin and hair care routine, for a new look!
