Sri Gita Prachara Samiti,
Vizag - 530001
Vizag continues to fill up its appointment diary for summer camps with a host of additional activities and classes that range from photography to Kuchipudi. So after a first round of summer camps to liven you all, MetroMela invites you to explore these as well.
For those aspiring to be perfect shutterbugs, Visakha Camera Club is offering photography classes (both theory and practical). The classes would be taken from 6.30 AM to 9.30 AM, on four consecutive Sundays only, and would cover basics of photography, cameras, lenses, films, digital photography, photo composition, usage of filters and flash photography. To join up, all you need to have is a camera of your own, to be between 12 and 80 years of age and to have the willingness to sacrifice your Sunday late morning nap!
Kuchipudi aspirants can contact Kuchipudi Kalakshetra and enroll for their special summer camp ‘Kuchipudi dance classes’, beginning 1 May. Spread out over 30 days, this camp would focus on the intricacies of this classical Indian dance form and would also impart related learning on music, culture and literature.
Sri Gita Prachara Samiti, an organization that is devoted towards promoting the essence of the Bhagavad Gita, is starting a ten-day summer training camp for kids in the age group of eight to 16 years at its premises. The camp would begin from 1 May, from 6.30 AM, everyday. The organization would be teaching yoga, meditation, Gita Pranayam, basics of Sanskrit language, shlokas and Vedic chanting and recitation. On completion of this camp, the participants would receive a certificate of appreciation from the Sri Gita Prachara Samiti.
Fun times in store
The five-star hotel ‘The Park’ in Vizag goes on to give a break to parents in Vizag as they can enroll their kids at the ongoing special ‘kids’ summer camp’ to last until 17 May. Kids, from six to sixteen years, can join up for classes in swimming, basketball, chess and exciting fun games, with snacks and movies and magic shows thrown in for good measure. You can contact 9849154488, for more details.
The Vizag branch of Charmika Academic Research and Development Institute (CARDI) is conducting a special summer camp ‘Chill Pill-09’ for kids to enhance and improve memory, concentration, learning skills and, more importantly, to ‘de-addict’ them from unhealthy television watching. This camp would be held in association with the Yoga Village, at the yoga center’s premises, from 1 to 25 May. Classes would begin at 9.30 AM with yoga and classical music and go on until 3 PM with classes in painting, art, cartoon and movie-making, creative writing, dramatics, etc. Special puppet shows too would form a part of this camp. CARDI is the Vizag branch of the Hyderabad-based educational society (with another branch in Vijayawada). This institute works with children suffering from psychological and behavioral problems/setbacks, by conducting special programs using academic and cognitive assessments and by counseling. It interacts directly with schools in helping to identify such students and in training teachers to deal with them, although parents are also encouraged to personally contact CARDI. For more details on the summer camp, you could either call Deepti Sowjanya on 0891-6459404, 6460626 or visit the CARDI office at 2A, 2nd floor, Kutpilli Apartments, Diamond Park, Dwarakanagar, Vizag – 500017.
We hope these summer camps keep the kids busy and happy. Do drop in your comments, and do also share information on any other summer camps that you find equally interesting.
