PizzaHut-1-VizagWhat you see – It is rightly said that the good-food-reputation of fast food giant Pizza Hut precedes it because as we step into this fast food diner at Dwarakanagar in Vizag, our nose starts to tingle with the rich aroma of freshly baked garlic bread and our senses swim with visions of molten cheesy bites. Amidst these hunger pangs, we take in a décor of wood and bamboo, clean floor space, stained glass vegetable designs and colorful walls done up in trademark Pizza Hut colors of red and black and abstract art. We begin to look forward to a wholesome pizza lunch in Vizag.

What you get – Known to have brought the authentic ‘pizza’ into India with its chain of fast food diners, the US-based Pizza Hut in Vizag matches up with the international standards of its parent company. The décor is stylish, and fast food at Pizza Hut is served fresh and piping hot and crisp. It includes both a vegetarian and a non-vegetarian fare that has the popular pizzas, pastas, salads and soups to go with some heavenly breads and beverages and desserts. Staff in Pizza Hut colors smile a friendly smile, offer useful suggestions for the various pizza combinations and serve you in about ten to 15 minutes.

Our order for a meal at Vizag’s Pizza Hut begins with ‘Masala Lemonade’ (we are told that it is served PizzaHut-2-Vizagchilled and is refreshingly lemony, and is topped with some tangy black salt and chaat masala). The lemonade (Rs. 45 for a tall glass) is relished and gets a slurpy 'must-have' from us. We then pick up a platter of mixed breads (seasoned with cheese, peppered with olives and flavored with garlic), and the family favorite Chicken Tikka Makhani pizza (Rs. 295 for a medium).  Tempted by the many advertisements seen on our television sets, we also attempt the new Cheesy Bites Peppy O Chicken (Rs. 200 for a personal) that is also being dished out here in Vizag, much to our delight. The combination is really good as this pizza gives you enjoyable cheesy bites at the edges (if you like all things cheesy) and a center option of less-cheese and wonderful toppings of olives, jalapenos, red capsicum and softly flavored chicken chunks. A personal serving is too little, so it’s best to go for the medium helping. Pizza Hut also has several options for vegetarians like Veggie Crunch and Teekha Paneer Makhani, to name a few. We close our meal with a large helping of drooling, chocolaty dessert Ebony and Ivory that has chocolate fudge and vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce and is another must-have-Pizza Hut specialty.

Pizza Hut also serves regular beverages and Baskin Robbins ice-cream combos that go with its pizzas. It has a takeaway facility here in Vizag and also the ‘hot pack’ home delivery service that promises a hot and fresh pizza. It is also popular in Vizag for its birthday party venue option.

Our verdict – We'd like to call Pizza Hut in Vizag a fast foodies’ safe refuge – not for kids alone but also for their parents who’d like to forget all-talk-of-calorie-intake for a while and indulge in a nice family dining, fast food experience. The service attendants are friendly and restaurant manager Babu mingles with impatient diners to put them at ease, effortlessly. Weekends are packed, so ideally drop by at an early evening hour for an early pizza meal and don't forget to ring the 'had-a-good-time' bell when you leave. Parking is limited in the front area.
